Biography

Phil Sobansky (a.k.a. Michal Filip Sobanski) was born in Poland in 1971.

1991-1995 – Studies painting and printmaking at AKI – ACADEMY OF VISUAL ARTS in Enschede (The Netherlands). Graduates June 27, 1995.

1994 – Collective exhibition at “Gallerij Broekhuis” – Enschede (The Netherlands). Exhibits oil – paintings and prints.

1995 (June 23 – July 11) – Graduation exhibition at “Caravan Sarey – Gallerij” in Enschede. Exhibits oil – paintings and woodcut prints.

1996 – creates comic strip ‘Svejk’ that is published in nationwide Polish newspaper ‘Express Wieczorny’ – 88 strips.

1998 (May) – Participates in “World Contemporary Art 1998 – Exhibition” held in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.. Presents oil – paintings . See the quick report on this event.

December 1998 – January 1999 – Shows his oil – paintings and woodcut-prints at “Gallery Elite” in Venice, California, U.S.A..

2000 (October 31 – November 15) – One – man exhibition at “Gallerie A Part” in Paris (France). Presents oil – paintings and acrylic – paintings. See the quick report.

2008 – together with Darek Foks creates comic strip ‘Koziolek Matolek and Badziewna Zdrapka’ which is a part of a project ‘Koziolek Matolek – Antologia’ by Lodz Comix Festival.

2010 (March 5 – March 30) – One-man exhibition at Mszczonow MOK (Town Culture Center), exhibits oil paintings, acrylic paintings, etching prints, woodcut prints, comic strips, illustrations, ie. summary of his 20ys art life…
